Entr, the consultancy arm of Aker Solutions, announced on October 5, 2026, that it has landed its first offshore wind contract in Canada. The award comes from Net Zero Atlantic and covers an offshore wind transmission routing and technology study delivered under the Atlantic Canada Offshore Wind Readiness Program (ACORP).
The contract represents the first time Aker Solutions has secured work in the emerging Canadian offshore wind sector, drawing on the group's decades of offshore engineering and project execution experience.
The assignment calls on Entr to explore and evaluate planning-level offshore transmission routing options and technology configurations for future offshore wind developments. Findings from the work are intended to inform offshore wind development in Nova Scotia and to support evaluation of potential electricity export opportunities to Canadian and U.S. markets.
Entr will carry out the study together with C-CORE, a Canadian-based company described as a global leader in risk-based advisory services in harsh marine environments. According to the company, the pairing combines C-CORE's local knowledge with Entr's international offshore wind and transmission expertise.
Stephen Penton, director at Entr, part of Aker Solutions, said the contract is an exciting entry point for the consultancy into the Canadian offshore wind market. Working with C-CORE, he said, the teams will combine local knowledge with international offshore wind and transmission expertise to help identify solutions supporting future offshore wind development in Nova Scotia and inform the assessment of potential clean power export opportunities.
The study will be led from Aker Solutions' St. John's office in Canada, with support from teams based in Oslo, Norway. Work is expected to be completed in January 2027, and the findings are expected to be made publicly available once complete.
Net Zero Atlantic is the client for the study, which sits within the Atlantic Canada Offshore Wind Readiness Program. Entr serves as the consultancy arm of Aker Solutions. C-CORE provides risk-based advisory services for harsh marine environments from its Canadian base.
