Blue Gem Wind's Erebus floating offshore wind project in the Celtic Sea launches UK and Welsh supply-chain engagement ahead of 2026 procurement

Erebus by Blue Gem Wind, the floating offshore wind project situated in the Celtic Sea, has begun supply-chain engagement, with the announcement issued on 6 October 2026 at Floating Offshore Wind 2026 in Aberdeen. The developer is inviting companies across the Welsh and UK offshore wind supply chain to connect with the project as its procurement approach takes shape. The company states that involving suppliers early will give them better visibility of possible project requirements. At the same time, the project team aims to learn what capability, capacity and investment the supply chain will need in order to help deliver the development.
Areas where opportunities may arise cover manufacturing and fabrication, ports and logistics, vessels, engineering and construction, electrical infrastructure, technology, and operations and maintenance, according to the announcement. To map this out, the project team plans to talk with suppliers, ports, industry organisations and other stakeholders. The purpose is to assess the capability that already exists, pinpoint possible gaps in the supply chain, and identify ways businesses could take part in the project.
David Groves, Procurement Director at Erebus by Blue Gem Wind, emphasised that the company intends to involve the supply chain collaboratively from the beginning. "We want to engage with the supply chain early, openly and meaningfully. The Celtic Sea has the potential to support significant new industrial and supply-chain opportunities, and understanding the market will be an important part of developing our procurement approach," he said.
He also pointed to the Aberdeen conference as a practical channel for conversation with prospective suppliers. "Floating Offshore Wind 2026 is a great opportunity to engage directly with the supply chain. We want businesses to tell us what they can offer, where they see opportunities and what they need from the project to invest, grow and participate," Groves added.
Companies that cannot attend Floating Offshore Wind 2026 are not excluded from the process. They can register their interest and join the Erebus by Blue Gem Wind supply-chain database via the company's website.
Blue Gem Wind Ltd operates from the Bridge Innovation Centre at the Pembrokeshire Science and Technology Park in Pembroke Dock, Wales, and describes its focus as floating wind in the Celtic Sea, where the Erebus project is located. Sara Dymond, Group Communications Director at Simply Blue Energy, is named as the media contact for the announcement, with further information available through her.
