Seaway7 has finished laying the last of the inner-array cables at the East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm, bringing the cable installation stage of its contract to a close. According to the company, its crews handled 95 inner-array cables at the site, with more than 240km of cable loaded, laid and pulled into the foundations over the course of the campaign. The wind farm is being developed by ScottishPower Renewables together with Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company.
Scope built on completed foundations programme
Seaway7's contract at East Anglia THREE covers both the monopile foundations and the inner-array cables. The cable lay completion follows on from the installation of all 95 monopile foundations and their transition pieces, a stage the company finished earlier this year.
Offshore teams move to testing and termination
Although cable laying is now done, the contractor's work offshore is not yet finished. Seaway7 said testing, termination and trenching activities are continuing at the site as it works through the remainder of its scope on the project. In its announcement, the company thanked its offshore and onshore teams as well as ScottishPower Renewables, project partners and suppliers for their collaboration and effort on the achievement.
Financing and contract history behind the project
The completion of the cable campaign lands during a busy period for East Anglia THREE. In July 2025, Masdar and Iberdrola closed financing for the development, as reported. Elsewhere in the East Anglia zone, Seaway7 picked up the array cable installation contract for East Anglia TWO in November 2024, and Hellenic secured the array cable supply deal for that same project in October 2025.
With laying operations complete, attention now turns to the testing, termination, and trenching phase; the remaining elements of Seaway7's works as the ScottishPower Renewables and Masdar development advances toward full completion of the contractor's scope.
